luna sole – moon and sun… another poetic ochs und junior.
The horizon extends between 9 and 3 o'clock.
The sun (shown at 10 o'clock in the picture) is rising. The hands are indicating the time as 7.43 in the morning. When the sun is at 12 o'clock, it's midday; at 6 o'clock it's midnight . The under-dial disk bearing the luminescent sun makes one clockwise rotation around its own axis every 24 hours.
Earth is at the centre of the dial. The white dot represents the illumination of the moon. This in turn is shown as a dot that rotates about Earth. When located in direct opposition to the sun (and entirely within the white dot), then it's a full moon. When the moon dot is directly on top of the sun, then it's a new moon. The moon's position in the display also indicates whether it's above the horizon or (as in the picture) still below the horizon.

Zwischen 9 und 3 Uhr befindet sich der Horizont.
Die Sonne, auf der Grafik bei 10 Uhr, steigt am Himmel auf. Es ist somit auf der Uhr 7.43 am Morgen.
Wenn die Sonne direkt unter 12 Uhr steht ist Mittag, oberhalb von 6 Uhr Mitternacht.
Die Scheibe mit der leuchtenden Sonne dreht sich somit in 24 Stunden einmal im Uhrzeigersinn um die eigene Achse.
Im Zentrum der Uhr befindet sich die Erde. Die weisse Fläche stellt die Beleuchtung des Mondes dar.
Dieser wiederum ist als Ring dargestellt und dreht sich ebenfalls um die Erde. Steht er direkt gegenüber der Sonne und ist mit dem gesamten Durchmesser innerhalb der weissen Fläche wäre Vollmond.
Hat sich der Mondring genau auf die Sonne gedreht wäre Neumond.
Zudem ist anhand der Mondposition zu sehen, ob sich dieser schon über oder - wie auf dem Bild - noch unter dem Horizont befindet.
